OUR IMPACT

Annual Report 2024/2025

"We are so grateful to our partners and to the communities we serve for continuing to increase our reach and impact. To the Irish people, who have come out in record numbers to support us in our network of 45 shops across the island and those who donate to us: we say a heartfelt Thank You. We could not operate without your faith, trust and generosity."

2.8
million

people directly and indirectly reached across 17 countries through Oxfam Ireland's programme work.

OUR FOUR GOALS

Just Economies

People and the planet are at the centre of just and sustainable economic systems.

Accountable Governance

Governance systems and governments are people-centred, planet-focused, just and accountable.

Gender Justice

Women and girls in all their diversity live free from gender oppression, discrimination and violence.

Climate Justice

The climate crisis is abated through radical solutions and there is environmental justice for all.

In order to deliver on our four overarching global goals in our 10 Year Strategic Framework, we are working in implementation blocks called Horizon Plans.

Under Horizon, we want to ensure that our work is more focused and aligned across all parts of the organisation.

Horizon Plan 2024 - 2027 will focus on delivering specific Outcomes under six Focus Areas:

Ways of Working

Ways of Working

Ameera is an entrepreneur from Gaza. She founded her food processing business, Khair Baladi, with support from Oxfam.

The war destroyed her food business, but she began rebuilding with her husband, borrowing pots from neighbours and cooking over fire. Despite huge challenges, she continues providing food for her family and others, driven by resilience and hope.

OUR WORK

43,863

people participated in and benefitted from initiatives that prevent and respond to climate or armed conflict related shocks in Malawi, DRC, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Sudan and Somalia, Somaliland.

42,805

people were reached in Gaza with water and sanitation work, including the repair of damaged water networks in various areas.

76,550

people were reached with lifesaving assistance as part of the Irish Aid Acute Crisis Stream (ACS) funding. These included interventions in food, water and sanitation and protection in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Gaza and Mozambique.

25,181

people were supported with food and cash assistance across Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe as part of the response to the El Niño drought, which severely impacted the Southern Africa region.

“Even if it’s only a couple of hours a week – do it.”

Barbara Harper volunteers at the Oxfam Holywood Superstore after retiring and wanting to give her time to a good cause. Volunteers are the backbone of Oxfam’s shops and loves meeting the same people each week, getting to know their stories.

How we maximised your donations

79% ensures we can provide life-changing long-term development projects, life-saving humanitarian assistance and campaigning and advocacy to tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice.

17% ensures we are doing everything we can to raise funds from different types of donors and to let the public know about our work.

4% ensures we work in the most efficient and effective way, and the money donated is spent wisely and well managed.

In emergency appeals, 100% of your donation goes to that specific response fund, providing vital and practical supports such as clean water, sanitation, food and the crucial staff costs to deliver the response.

“Most of these women have good leadership qualities..."

Margret Zinhumwe works with WALPE in Zimbabwe, an organisation formed after the 2018 elections when it became clear women were underrepresented. WALPE helps women gain the skills and confidence to take on leadership roles in politics and their communities. Margret says many women have leadership potential, but lack the economic support to pursue it.
